Published on the occasion of Alessandro Mendini's anthological exhibition at the Groninger Museum in 1988. An amazing sketchbook of this great protagonist of 20th century design and key figure in the emergence of Italian design who revolutionized its image.
Mendini’s diverse practice included architecture and urban planning, product design, graphic design, paintings or installations. In addition, he is known for his theoretical work, covering design theory, as well as the development of both the Postmodern and Radical schools of architectural thought and his direction of important magazines. Having been one of the first members of the legendary Studio Alchimia founded by Alessandro Guerriero in Milan (1976) in which he collaborated alongside with other Italian Andrea Branz or Ettore Sottsass -a gallery for experimental work, not creatively constrained by industrial production- and of course, the father of radical design and neo-modern.
This catalog is designed as an extension of your own work: singular, contemporary, prophetic, and original just like Mendini himself. Its playful use of color, sense of proportion and forms can be seen also as his signature style.
